Experience the
Sights & Sounds
of Seattle

DARE TO BE ADVENTUROUS

We are delighted to showcase our city through our "Experience the Sights & Sounds of Seattle" optional excursions on Saturday, August 25th.  For those who have not visited Seattle before, we highly recommend that you join us on Saturday.  We have configured the day experience to enable you all to see many of the major Seattle attractions in a walkable format without the use of cars.  Local volunteers will serve as hosts and guides.  You can choose to join us in the beginning of the day for breakfast or join us later in the day.  The outline below shows approximate times and location information.  There are some key activities we would like to know ahead of time so that we can make reservations like breakfast and dinner.  We would also like to know if you would like to join us for the Argosy Harbor cruise in advance.

Excursion Outline - Detail Description

8:30 AM - Breakfast at the Citizen Café (706 Taylor Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98109)

For those who would like to have breakfast with us, meet us at the Citizen’s Café.  Participants pay for their own breakfast. You can Uber there or if you have a car, you can drive there.  There’s plenty of free street parking so if you’re driving there to meet us, you can park your car north of the café.  You can park here in the morning and come back to this place at the end of the day.  Meet us here on time as they will not seat us until everyone is present.

10 AM – Seattle Center @ the Monorail Station (370 Thomas St, Seattle, WA  98109)

After breakfast we will walk to the Seattle Center which is about three blocks away.  Since not much is happening at the center this early and in an effort to beat the crowd at the Seattle waterfront, we will catch the monorail to Westlake Center close to the waterfront.  $5 for round trip ticket.

10:15 AM – Pike Place Market (85 Pike Street, Seattle, WA 98101)

After arriving at Westlake Center, we can walk down towards the waterfront to see Seattle’s Pike Place Market.  Experience the sights and sounds of one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States.  Take a photo with the market’s bronze pig and see the “flying fish”.  The first Starbucks is also here.  We’ll give everyone about 45 minutes to explore before heading down to the waterfront.  We’ll meet up at 11 AM at a designated location to walk down to the waterfront.

11:15 AM – Seattle Waterfront

Walk along the waterfront and see attractions including the Big Wheel and Old Curiosity Shop on the way to the Argosy Harbor Cruise.

11:40 AM – Start Boarding for the Argosy Harbor Tour (1101 Alaskan Way, Pier 55, Seattle, WA  98101)

Please get here by 11:40 AM to board the cruise.

12:05 PM – 1:05 PM - Harbor Tour ($30) (1101 Alaskan Way, Pier 55, Seattle, WA  98101)

This is a 1-hour narrated cruise where you’ll learn Seattle history, be dazzled by the ever-evolving Emerald City skyline, explore the workings of our shipping port, get a close-up view of Seattle’s historic waterfront, all wrapped up in the natural beauty of Elliott Bay and the surrounding Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges.  If you’re not participating in the tour, you can continue to explore the waterfront in the meantime or go up on the Big Wheel.

1:15 PM – Lunch at Waterfront or Pike Place Restaurants

We’ll give everyone about an hour to eat lunch at a venue of your choice.  We’ll reconvene at a designated location to take the monorail back to Seattle Center afterwards.

2:30 PM – Seattle Center (305 Harrison St, Seattle, WA 98109)

After lunch, we’ll take the monorail back to the Seattle Center.  We highly recommend that you visit Chihuly glass museum ($29) and go up the iconic Space Needle ($37.50).  If you’re doing both, consider getting ticket package ($54).  Watch the International Fountain water show (free).  Tibet Fest with live performances, visual arts and hands on activities is also happening this day at the Armory building located next to the monorail station.

6 PM – Dinner at Kau Kau Barbeque (656 S King St, Seattle, WA 98104)

For those who are at the Seattle center, we'll regroup and will head to the International District to Kau Kau Barbeque for dinner.  For those who are not with us at the Seattle Center, you can meet us at the restaurant.  View restaurant info here:  http://www.kaukaubbq.com

8:30 PM – "Crazy Rich Asians" Movie Outing (Theater to be determined at dinner)

The country is all a buzzed with the movie Crazy Rich Asians.  Come join us and support an all Asian cast movie at the box office!  The movie has been taking the #1 spot at the box office proving that amazing diverse story telling can be embraced by audiences everywhere!
